The Sarplaninac is a sturdy and strong ancient breed first created in Yugoslavia to guard livestock in mountainous terrain. They have large and fluffy double coats that are thick and keep them warm. Their large teeth and muscular build helped scare away predators on the farm. They are calm and serious dogs.
