Greyhound dogs were built for speed. These “couch cheetahs” have long legs and arched backs that enable the dog to contract and stretch maximally while executing the double-suspension gallop. Elegant and muscular, Greyhounds have tremendous muscle mass and light legs which help make them as fast as they are. Their long tails aren’t just for show—they act as brakes when running. They are goofy and downright softies, preferring to curl up with their owners after a quick sprint outside.
