Spaniel

Similar to the King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, the English Toy Spaniel was bred to keep royalty and nobility company, becoming incredibly popular around the reign of King Charles II (hence the nickname “Charlie Dogs”). They have short faces and are petite, clocking in at no more than 14 pounds. Large heads, long and luscious ears, and the definition of puppy-dog eyes define the dog physically. They can have a variety of coat colors, such as Blenheim (red and white), King Charles (black and tan), Prince Charles (white, black, and tan), or Ruby (solid red).
