Originally bred to guard, the Caucasian Shepherd Dog is a muscular and powerful dog. They have wedge-shaped heads and thick curved tails. Their thick coats come in shades of red, fawn, or gray and have white markings, and they have a dark mask around the face. Their personality is serious and pensive and they possess a self-confidence bordering on regalness. There are two types: the Mountain Caucasian Shepherd, which has a longer coat and heavier body, and the Steppe Caucasia Shepherd, which has a shorter coat and lighter body.
