The American Water Spaniel is an outdoorsy dog that loves swimming. They are happy and charming but can be aloof with strangers. Native to the Upper Midwest, they have an independent nature despite being eager to please. Their waterproof coats are brown and can be wavy or tightly curled. Thickly padded feet and webbed toes make them exceptional swimmers. They can be barky dogs, especially if bored. The American Water Spaniel is the state dog of Wisconsin.
