Calico cats are not a breed but rather a type of cat. The name refers to their tri-color coats which can be black, orange, and white or gray, beige, and white (called Dilute). Several breeds of domestic cats are classified as Calico cats such as Siberian Cats, American Shorthair Cats, and Japanese Bobtail Cats. Often described as having quirky or sassy personalities, Calico cats are mostly female. Males account for only one out of every 3,000 Calico cats. Calico cats are considered lucky cats.
